"What intrigued me most about this scene was, of course, the aspen. It was a wonderful day in the mountains of Colorado, and the aspen trees were at their best. A painting of aspen alone, however, might have been a little boring, so when I came across a lovely little wood, I tried to capture its charm and its view: the snowy mountains of the Sawatch Range and the smoke rising from the chimneys in the valley below. To see the turning of the aspen - "Colorado Gold" - is a treasure far beyond riches." - Peter Ellenshaw.
