Morning Light – Mallards
The light, filtering through the fog lifting off the water in a flooded timber, gives an ethereal aura to the scene. Mallards are dropping down through the trees and landing on the quiet water. After spending early morning hours in the grain fields, they are coming back to the timber for a drink and protection from the wind and predators.
The mallards will continue this routine until weather dictates another move on their annual migration south through our country. Home is nowhere and everywhere to mallards as they are constantly moving.
