I love pumpkins! Some people love apples, gourds or pears, but there's something incredibly sensual about a pumpkin. Every October, I take the family into a huge pumpkin patch and let everyone pick out three or four pumpkins apiece. Then, we take them home and set them around the farm.

One summer, we purchased a small dresser for my daughter, Kate, at an antique shop. The antique dealer said it was made of "pumpkin pine" from the woods of Maine. I had never heard that term before, and it stuck with me for a couple years. Finally, I made this painting.
