I came across this beautiful old Victorian house on one of my recent field trips to the country. Apart from the strong nostlagic impact of this late afternoon scene, the cat's confusion between his natural predatory instincts and his acquired friendly role as a pet was something that really caught my attention. I thought that this would create an interesting visual and humorous accent for the painting. - Alan Sakhavarz
