Town Dock – Jackson Creek, Deltaville, Virginia
The quaint village of Deltaville is located just south of where the Rappahannock River meets the Chesapeake Bay. After winding down Lover's Lane through a neighborhood of white clapboard houses, one reaches the town dock on Jackson Creek where local watermen and transient boaters tie up. The Chesapeake Bay buy-boat Nora W is tied to the left side of the dock, with patent tong boats rigged for clamming on the right.
Behind the dock is the old Deagle homeplace. This home is typical of the simple, proud architecture found throughout the Bay country. The Nora W now is owned by a Marylander and may never see Virginia waters again.
