For a polar bear, a long swim isn't much different from a journey on land. Polar bears have been spotted swimming as far as 200 miles from shore.

When this bear halted its forward progress to raise its head and look at our boat, the swirls and eddies in the water around it caught my eye. Reproducing the textures in the water's surface and in the wet fur provided me with an exciting challenge.
