A violent electrical storm followed by a blaze of sunlight illuminates two wet elephants with startling effect. The large bull, its huge ears fully extended, is demonstrating its powerful exuberance - probably a bluff and without serious intent. When an elephant really means business, it is more likely to charge without warning except for a silent momentary rocking motion with head held high and ears at full stretch. Ususally, the African elephant's large ears are seen constantly flapping during the heat of the day, playing a vital part in the body's cooling system.

These normally gentle giants are still being callously hunted and killed for their valuable ivory tusks. The never-ending fight to protect the elephant from poachers sadly appears to be losing ground.
