Annapolis: Moonlight Over the Maryland Statehouse, Looking South, in 1860 (Remarqued)
Annapolis, state capital of Maryland and sometimes referred to as the Athens of America, has always held a special fascination for John Stobart as today its charm and character remain substantially preserved for all to enjoy. This conception looks south over the harbor and the Severn River to rural Eastport with Chesapeake Bay, extending to the left distance when Annapolis was a trading seaport in the heyday of merchant sail.
