Bedded Down – Whitetail Deer
As night falls, the whitetail deer settles into its favorite bed site. The spot is carefully selected for its proximity to food, shelter from the wind, and good visibility to guard against roaming predators. While the whitetails' coat is well-designed for the bitter cold, it must find periods to rest to conserve energy and renew its strength.
Surely, nothing in nature is more beautiful and picturesque than a whitetail deer in the soft glow of a winter's moon. But, the beauty of such a scene belies the harsh realities of winter survival.
