"Gossamer" is my first original print made from drawings on mylar. Although I've enjoyed making original prints, such as stone lithographs, in the past, I had a lot of fun making "Gossamer". I think this particular type of original lithograph offers a lot of different avenues to achieve a variety of effects. I enjoy all the hand work associated with original prints, especially the hand coloring. The "Gossamer" original prints are hand colored with oil paints, a technique that lends a translucent effect. The oil paints are rubbed into the prints, so that they pick up and mix with some of the original inks from the prints. - Thornton Utz
