I was strolling around the perimeter of the main camp at Whangy Reserve in Zimbabwe when I almost tripped over this baby giraffe - I don't know who was more surprised!

I was anxious not to disturb the infant, however, he remained quite relaxed, happy to remain where his mum had left him. We just watched each other for a few minutes before I continued my wanderings. Later, when I mentioned my discovery, I was told that young and elderly animals like to keep close to the lodges because they feel safe.

I make no apologies for the cuteness of this little character - he was just lovely. I especially admired the neat way he managed to tuck up those long gangly legs!
