Hoka Hey: Sioux War Cry
Among the most aggressive and warlike of all Native Americans, the Sioux raided other tribes all over the western Plains. Such legendary leaders as Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, who led 2500 braves into battle at Custer's Last Stand, were warriors of the Sioux.
In "'Hoka Hey: Sioux War Cry'" a war party of Sioux ride into battle. In the foreground, the chief raises his coup stick in eager anticipation of victory. The dusty Plains echo with the thunder of hoofbeats and the sounds of the Sioux war cry "hoka hey" which means "charge."
