“Most people will look at Holding the Family Together and see it as a reminder of a happy family vacation,” says artist Steve Hanks. “But for me it is about the man in the painting, his position in society and how the pendulum has swung the other way and put men in this position - trying to keep the family together while they’re all going in different directions.
