Some paintings aren't planned, they are inspired by subtle happenings that occur when you least expect them. I was impatient for spring flowers after a long Colorado winter, and these tulips were a welcome sight. After laying them down to hunt for a vase, the sight of them draping and snuggling together was irresistible. All they needed was a bright gold ribbon to set them off.
