Moon Song
There are few sounds that are symbolic of a true wilderness. I feel that wolves howling are the epitome of wilderness music. Wolves may howl alone, in any season, and at any time of the day. However, they do most of their 'singing' in groups during the winter, especially at dawn and dusk.
Depicting night always presents a challenge to me. The full moon reflects off the snow and open water, illuminating the landscape with cool monochromatic light. I'm always amazed at the brightness of a moonlit, snow-laden night. The subtleties can only be captured in a work of art.
