Oil Patch
In his Boomtown Series, Andy Thomas revisits the dramatic growth as oil derricks populated grazing land in the West. In those days, trust was very important as most business was conducted on a handshake, and a man's word was only as good as his reputation.
Thomas lives in Carthage, Missouri, and enjoys painting many differing subjects and moods. His westerns, Desperate Ride and Buffalo Hunt, are dramatic and filled with action while his oil scenes are peaceful and calming. Oil Patch is particularly interesting. It is almost as if the vast array of derricks "populate" the landscape like and become its most notable feature.
