Secret Watch
"I'm attracted to the character and personality of the lynx. They are very secretive...not overpowering, like a grizzly or big horn sheep. I wanted to do a delicate, beautiful, quiet subject. I enjoyed the colors and the textures. It’s just such a beautiful cat.
"The setting is near Alaska's Denali National Park where the animal is yet to be threatened with extinction. But in the lower forty-eight states it is. That's basically because the primary food of the lynx is the snowshoe hare, whose habitats have been encroached upon and destroyed by development. Consequently, the lynx population dropped too. But here, in 'Secret Watch,' the quiet elusive lynx sits back in a rocky nook, watching and waiting. Maybe for a snowshoe hare to come by." - Stephen Lyman
